this list causes me to stop and wonder what advice I would give my daughter, if i had to write it down.
here is my short list:

God's mercies are new every morning.
bake bread whenever you can.
cook for others.
make your house a home and make it open to everyone.
use what you have.
go camping.
travel the world.
live on your own for at least one year.
pay your own way.
you can't take it with you, so share.
never give up.
take courage.
keep the faith.
always choose love.
put God first.

Okay I need to think of more, those are just off the top of my head.

What advice would you give your daughter? Or have you given your daughter.

daybook round 3

Round 3 of the simple woman's daybook on a wednesday instead of tuesday.

FOR TODAY
Here is picture for a thought I am sharing...

Outside my window...the night is dark.
I am thinking... I am very tired and should have gone to bed 2 hours ago.
I am thankful for...a comfortable bed.
From the kitchen...not much due to lack of groceries.
I am wearing...red pj bottoms, tank, slippers and a grey hoodie.
I am creating...garlands for the club.
I am going...sleep well tonight.
I am reading..."This Is Not The Story You Think It Is: A Season of Unlikely Happiness"
I am hoping...a safe return of John & Jude (still camping)
I am hearing... the traffic on the freeway
Around the house...the laundry is folded waiting to be put away.
One of my favorite things...steel cut oatmeal, even in the summer.
A few plans for the rest of the week: ride bikes with Delia, emboss a few greeting cards and bake bread.

*yes, i know my child is riding with no helmet...very bad indeed...this is in a campground on a borrowed bike. yes, she has a helmet and yes she uses it*

a few things

a few things I have learned about myself and my life in the past few weeks:
- i love fresh corn but i prefer to cut it off the cob.
-i am not such a fan of salad bars.
-if i get the chance to sleep in, i can not actually sleep in.
-the best shower ever is after camping.
-i will never be a rock climber.
-food prepared and eaten outdoors always tastes so much better.
-hot lattes out weigh cold ones 10 to 1.
-it is always good to be home.
just a small sampling but you get the idea.
just got home last night from a weekend + of camping, more details and photos to come.
